It is attached by hanging the mantle to screws in the wall; Back of the fireplace is made of some sort of composite stone. It is beige/cream in colour; The hearth is laid out in front and supports the weight of the fire back. The hearth is made of composite stone and matches the beige/cream colour of the fire back; The gas fire was purchased brand new but was never installed so it is not possible to confirm if it works or if it is safe to use.
